How to Clean Your Face the Right Way

There always seems to be confusion on the correct way of cleansing our skin.

Not just with cleansing our skin but what products to use, how to use them, and how often. With so many products it gets hard to differ how we use them or even if they’re the right products for our skin.

Our skin care eventually turns into a routine as daily schedules get busier and our skin doesn't receive the love and care it deserves. Yes, skin care can feel a bit like work, but done correctly can calm your skin and your mental being as well. It’s called skin-care for a reason after all!

Yes, skin care can feel a bit like work, but done correctly can calm your skin and your mental being as well.

Use these steps daily to effectively care for your skin and yourself the right way.

Set Your Skin “Sanctuary”

Living with busy schedules and daily routines, it turns into a habit to rush through your skin care routine without making it a time for you to relax and care for yourself. Make it a habit to turn your skin care “routine” into a “skin ritual”. Set yourself a soothing and relaxing environment to perform your skin ritual in to ease your anxieties and stress, making it your own sanctuary.

In the morning rush you may want to get past your skin care as fast as possible, but instead take time for your skincare and treat it as a way to refresh and energize yourself for the day! In the evening, ending your day with a relaxing and self-loving ritual will help ease all the anxieties and stress that’s been built up throughout the day. Instilling this skin care ritual will not only benefit your skin but your mindset and mental being as well.

Clean Your Hands!

Don't start cleansing your face with dirty hands! Cleansing your face is meant to be removing dirt and impurities, but if you skip washing your hands beforehand, you’ll end up pushing all that dirt (if not more) back onto your face.

60 Second Rule

When you wash your skin you want to really get the cleansers to help remove all the dirt and impurities built up. If you try to rush through the cleansing process it will not properly cleanse your face of such impurities. Making way for the 60 second rule, always washing your skin for a minute to properly massage the products into your skin.

Don’t Use the Wrong Towel

Oftentimes we forget to bring a different towel for our face whilst in the bathroom or possibly think there’s no harm in using the towel you dry your hands or body with.

However, you always need to use a separate towel for your face and clean it often. Your body, hair, or any old towel you have laying around with easy availability is most likely filled with pore-clogging residue, rendering the cleansing you just gave to your skin useless.

We want to avoid the problem-causing germs and bacteria on our skin. Your skin is delicate, so don’t hurt it by rubbing. Show love to your skin this way by gently patting your skin dry.

Facial Massage

If you’ve been keeping up on the skin care side of the internet you know how facial massage has come to be more known, but you may not know exactly what it is. Facial massage boosts blood circulation and encourages lymphatic drainage and in turn stimulates collagen production, giving skin a healthy and youthful appearance. The fluid in the lymphatic system helps remove waste and toxins from the bodily tissues. You can also use tools for your facial massage such as a Gua Sha stone which we will expand more in future blog posts, so keep posted!
