What is Reiki healing?

Reiki is a hands-on healing therapy that activates the relaxation response, promotes our body’s natural ability to heal itself, and supports overall balance.

The term reiki literally means “spiritually guided life energy.” It is pure, simple and effortless, naturally guiding us to just be and to let go and receive what we need in perfect timing.

I practice Reiki in the Usui tradition, developed at the beginning of the twentieth century in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui, handed down to me by my teacher, Akiko Hoshihara.

Caregivers in hospitals are now trained in providing Reiki to address symptoms of pain, anxiety, nausea, insomnia, issues with digestion, and exhaustion.


Why Reiki?

Navigating daily life is hard. We have struggles. We get stuck or sometimes, lost. This is where we need support. Having someone who can guide you to connect with your inner wisdom, as only you truly know what is best for you, gets you on the path to healing.

Or maybe your aim is to live consciously, to show up fully in your life. Or you have the desire to challenge yourself in artistic ways. Reiki will show you how to receive beautifully, readily so you can let go of limiting beliefs and old patterns that keep you from moving forward.

The experience itself explains more than words could. Practicing Reiki has made a huge impact on my life, bringing me clarity, stress relief, and better overall health, and I look forward to sharing this healing experience with you.


Who is Reiki for?

Healing is for anyone who wishes to be kinder, be present to themselves, to let go of wounds, stories, and patterns that no longer belong to you.

The benefits of healing don’t just make a difference to you, it extends to your family and the world around you.


What happens in a Reiki treatment?

Your energy will be aligned to your natural state as a I align you with the Reiki energy through my hands. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field in the body and restoring them with vital energy. Reiki clears, balances, and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force energy to flow in a healthy and natural way.

You may feel a very slight tingling, heat, or energy, or nothing at all. The sensations or lack of are not a barometer of Reiki, they are just how your particular body senses energy. It is different for each person, but most feel a sense of relaxation and peace.

The mind may feel calm and your body should feel relaxed. It is okay to fall asleep during the session. You will still receive all of the benefits of the session, sleeping or awake.

After the session, you may experience a detox-like reaction, but it will be released in a few days. It is important to drink plenty of water to hydrate your body as your body’s energy system may be moving at a more optimum rate, so please care for yourself with water and healthy food during the day.

It is beneficial to spend some quiet time that day or evening after your session to journal or to contemplate as you may have some insights and further mental clarity as your body continues to process the Reiki session.
